Inaugural Function – Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan & Anga–Anga Dana (Organ Donation)

1. Introduction
On 11th February 2026, the inaugural function of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign and Anga–Anga Dana (Organ Donation) awareness programme was conducted at Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru. The event was organized as part of the Government of Karnataka’s renewed effort to promote a drug-free society and increase organ donation pledges among students and the general public.

Our delegation actively attended the function, participated in the pledge, and engaged with awareness activities conducted during the event.
3. Programme Objectives
The primary objectives of the event were:
- Promote the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (drug-free India) and its extension strategy across Karnataka universities.
- Encourage organ donation through increased commitment and pledges under the Dhathru initiative.
- Sensitize students and faculty on preventive measures against substance abuse.
- Initiate collaboration between educational institutions, government departments, and civil society for sustainable community health programmes.
4. Key Dignitaries & Speeches
The function was graced by prominent leaders, including (but not limited to):
- Health Minister Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, who emphasized that tackling addiction requires not only legislation but also public awareness and parental vigilance.
- Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, who highlighted actions against foreign nationals misusing student visas for drug-related activities and stressed vigilant monitoring in student accommodations.
- RGUHS Vice-Chancellor Dr. BC Bhagavan, who noted that over 40,000 students from 250 colleges have joined the anti-drug campaign, and more than 7,000 students and faculty pledged for organ donation under the Dhathru initiative.
5. Highlights of Institutional Participation
- Participation in the inaugural pledge ceremony.
- Interaction with officials regarding expanded campus activities under the Nasha Mukt campaign.
- Distribution of awareness material to student participants.
- Submission of institutional commitment letter for de-addiction and organ donation drives.
6. Institutional Commitment & Future Plans
Ashwini Ayurveda Medical College & P.G. Centre commits to:
- Organizing periodic anti-drug awareness sessions for students.
- Facilitating organ donation awareness and pledge collection drives.
- Integrating drug-abuse prevention education within the Swasthavritta curriculum.
- Collaborating with health authorities for community outreach and de-addiction counselling.
7. Conclusion
The participation in the programme was highly impactful and aligned with the institution’s goals of fostering community health leadership among students and faculty. The event reinforced the importance of sustained action to create university campuses free of narcotics and to promote organ donation as a lifelong social contribution.
